Prof Dr Britta Gehrke

Britta Gehrke has been Professor of Macroeconomics at Freie Universität Berlin since April 2023. She is also affiliated with the IAB and the IZA – Institute of Labor Economics. From 2020 to 2023 she was a professor at the University of Rostock and from 2015 to 2020 she was a junior professor for macroeconomics and labour market research at the Friedrich-Alexander- University Erlangen-Nuremberg and at the IAB. She has been a visitor to the University of Queensland and Adelaide (Australia) and to the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. She received her doctorate in 2014 from the Friedrich-Alexander- University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Her research interests lie in the field of applied macroeconomics with a focus on the macroeconomic analysis of labour markets. Her projects are dedicated, for example, to the analysis of economic policy, such as short-time work or fiscal policy, structural reforms or the interaction of financial and labour markets. Her work has been published in refereed international journals and she is active in economic policy consulting.
