Dr Jonathan Latner

Dr Jonathan Latner is a research associate in the  Research Department Joblessness and Social Inclusion (ET). His current research focuses on the quality of work in a changing world of work. He has published on a wide range of topics, including ensuring data protection in statistical surveys, temporary work, economic insecurity, minimum income, inequality and mobility, and housing.

Before joining the IAB as a researcher in the Center for Empirical Methods (KEM) in 2023, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bamberg and the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences. He came to Germany in 2014 on a DAAD scholarship to complete his doctoral thesis at Goethe University Frankfurt.

He has a Ph.D. and M.S. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. Before starting his PhD, he worked for almost ten years implementing and evaluating continuing education programs. He holds dual American and German citizenship.
