Pro. Dr. Mark Trappmann

Mark Trappmann is Head of the research department “Panel Study Labour Market and Social Security“. Together with the researchers in his department, he established the yearly household panel study that gave the department its name at the IAB. Since April 2012, he has held the Chair of Sociology, especially Survey Methodology at the University of Bamberg.

Mark Trappmann studied Social Sciences and Mathematics in Duisburg and Groningen. He was awarded his PhD in Sociology from the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2003.

Mark Trappmann is one of the editors of the German sociological journal “Soziale Welt“. He represents the Federal Employment Agency in the German Data Forum and the IAB in the “Working Group of Social Science Institutes” (ASI). He is a member of the scientific advisory councils of the Research Data Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies, and of the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC).
